The Sacramento Police Department has seen an increase in armed robberies in the south area of the city. The victims in these cases have predominately been members of the Asian community. In several of the cases, the victims have been approached by suspects as they exit their vehicles. The suspect descriptions vary in nature and investigators are considering whether any of the cases are related. Most of the robberies have occurred between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m.
To inform citizens of this trend, the Sacramento Police Department is conducting a large amount of outreach to the community. We will be holding a community meeting at our Police Headquarters where bilingual officers will be available to bridge any communication gaps. See the below date and location:
When: Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Where: 5770 Freeport Boulevard, Sacramento 95822 (Hall of Honor)
***At the request of community members, video cameras will not be allowed inside to film the meeting. ***
We are utilizing the Asian Community Center and foreign language broadcast media to assist in distributing crime prevention tips to the community. The Department takes all acts of violence seriously and shares the same concern with our community.
The Department has deployed a significant amount of resources on this issue. Several specialty units have been re-assigned to prevent and investigate these crimes. Officers will continue to follow every lead to ensure that these suspects are caught and prosecuted. We continue to ask for the community’s help in spreading the word of these incidents and urge you take preventative steps to ensure you don’t become a victim.
