On Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to the intersection of San Carlos Way and 8th Avenue regarding the reports from a citizen of gunshots being heard in the area.
When officers arrived in the area they were contacted by a witness who advised there was a person who had been shot. The officers located an adult male, near the corner of San Carlos Way and 8th Avenue who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers provided first aid until they were relieved by medical personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital several hours later.
At this time there is no indication this incident is gang related. The motive for the shooting is unknown and investigators have not identified a suspect at this time.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to identify and gather evidence and canvas the area for potential witnesses.
