On Saturday, December 16, 2017, at approximately 1:56 a.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 2100 block of North Avenue regarding the reports that a subject had been shot.
Officers arrived and located one male adult victim who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. Officers summoned medical personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department. Medical personnel transported the victim to a local area hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.
Officers obtained information that a second gunshot victim had already been transported to a local area hospital where that subject remains in stable condition. Based on the nature of the injuries, investigators from the Felony Assaults unit were called to the scene to take over the investigation.
On December 18, 2017, the Sacramento Police Department was notified that the victim who was located on the 2100 block of North Avenue had succumbed to his injuries at which point the Homicide Unit took over the investigation.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified.
