On Friday, December 22, 2017, at approximately 12:09 a.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department were called to the area of Broadway and Santa Cruz Way, regarding sounds of gunfire and a subject laying in the middle of the street.
Officers arrived and located a male adult and a male juvenile with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers immediately took lifesaving measures until relieved by Sacramento Fire Department personnel.
Both victims were transported by the Sacramento Fire Department to a local area hospital. Ultimately, the juvenile succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The male adult remains in serious but stable condition.
Officers conducted an initial canvas of the area for witnesses and evidence. Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene investigators have been called to the scene to take over the investigation. At this time, a motive for the shooting has not been determined.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified.
