On Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at approximately 7:17 p.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department were called to the 3100 block of Academy Way for a subject who had been shot.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male adult who had suffered at least one gunshot wound. Responding officers immediately rendered first aid to the victim. The Sacramento Fire Department was summoned and declared the man deceased at the scene.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to identify, gather evidence and canvas the area for potential witnesses. At this time, the motive for the shooting is unknown and investigators have not identified a suspect.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified.
