On Thursday, January 4, 2018 at approximately 1:02 a.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department were called to the 7400 block of Muirfield Way regarding a shooting.
Officers arrived and located a male adult with at least one gunshot wound. Officers immediately took lifesaving measures until relieved by Sacramento Fire Department personnel.
The victim was transported by the Sacramento Fire Department to a local area hospital. Ultimately, the male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Officers conducted an initial canvas of the area for witnesses and evidence. Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators have been called to the scene to take over the investigation. At this time, a motive for the shooting has not been determined and investigators have not identified a suspect.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified.
