On Sunday, January 7, 2018, at approximately 1:11 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department was called to conduct a welfare check in the 1200 block of Nevis Court, for an individual who had not been heard from in several days.

When officers arrived on scene they were unable to make contact with the residents.  Based on the preliminary investigation, it was determined for the safety of residents in the surrounding area, as well as officer’s safety, that the SWAT team respond to the scene. They were assisted by the Crisis Negotiation Team as they attempted to contact the occupants of the residence.

Officers on scene were able to contact a resident inside, who has been detained. Once inside the residence officers located a deceased adult female.

At this time, the investigation remains active as Homicide Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators and members of the Sacramento County Crime Lab have responded to the scene. The area surrounding the 1200 block of Nevis Court will be closed for an extended period of time as the investigation continues. Based on the information available at this time, the incident appears to be an isolated incident.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin notifications have been completed.

An adult male suspect has been arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for Murder. The identity of the suspect is not being released at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
