On Sunday, January 7, 2018, at approximately 8:39 p.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department were called to the 2500 block of Dale Avenue, regarding sounds of gunfire.

Officers arrived and located a male adult with at least one gunshot wound. The Sacramento Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local area hospital. Ultimately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. 

Officers conducted an initial canvas of the area for witnesses and evidence.  Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene investigators have been called to the scene to take over the investigation. At this time, a motive for the shooting has not been determined.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified.
