On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at approximately 8:43 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department was called to the 400 block of Jibboom Street regarding a possible body floating in the Sacramento River. A passerby had reported a body floating near the eastern bank of the river.
Patrol officers, officers from the Marine Unit as well as medical personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department responded. The adult male was pronounced deceased on scene and was transported by the police marine unit to Miller Park where the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office responded. Based on the unknown circumstances of the death, homicide detectives began investigating.
The cause and manner of death and how long the victim had been in the river has not been determined at this time. The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin notifications have been completed.
