On Monday, March 05, 2018 at approximately 2:45 a.m. the Sacramento Police Department responded to 16th Street and Ahern Street after receiving a call from the Sacramento Fire Department regarding a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision.
Officers arrived on scene and discovered the collision had occurred on A Street between 16th Street and Ahern Street. As officers arrived, medical personnel from the Fire Department were already on scene and had declared the adult, male pedestrian deceased.
The driver and solo occupant of the vehicle remained on scene with the vehicle. Due to the death and the unknown circumstances surrounding the collision, Detectives from the Major Crimes Division as well as the Major Collision Investigation Unit were called to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.
A Street between 16th Street and Ahern Street will be closed for several hours while Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators conduct the investigation.
