On Sunday, March 18th, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department received information from administration at Kennedy High School regarding a report of a threat involving Kennedy High School. This was a separate and distinct threat from the one that occurred on Friday, March 16th. The March 18th incident involved a student displaying a rifle magazine via a social media post. This post was shared amongst Kennedy High School students. Kennedy High School administration immediately contacted SPD for further investigation.
The March 18th incident was investigated by SPD patrol officers and detectives from the Criminal Intelligence Unit.
After a thorough investigation, SPD detectives determined that the threat to Kennedy High School was not credible. However, during the investigation, detectives determined that the subject who posted the March 18th social media post and another individual were in violation of state gun laws. 47-year-old Brent Craig was arrested for being in possession of an illegal firearm and child endangerment. Additionally, a 17-year-old juvenile was arrested for being in possession of an illegal firearm.

Students, parents, and community members who suspect or have information regarding potential school violence are asked to report that information to the Sacramento Police Department immediately. Reports can be made to our Communication Center at (916) 264-5471, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We will continue to investigate all reports of threats thoroughly and appropriately.
