Today, the Sacramento Police Department will be releasing additional audio and video material related to the officer-involved shooting of Stephon Clark that occurred on March 18, 2018 in the 7500 block of 29th Street. The material in today’s release consists of 23 in-car camera (ICC) videos, 28 body-worn camera (BWC) videos, two 9-1-1 audio files and the remaining video from the Sacramento Sheriff Department’s Helicopter (STAR).
The BWC and ICC videos contained in this release depict officers responding to the scene after the officer-involved shooting (OIS) occurred, and their activities upon arrival. The time frame of this material is from when the officers begin their response to when the Sacramento Fire Department declares Mr. Clark deceased. The helicopter footage begins at the end-point of the previous release to the end of the footage. The audio files consist of two 9-1-1 transfer calls from the California Highway Patrol.
City Council Policy on Police Use of Force requires the Sacramento Police Department to release video material associated with critical incidents to the public within 30 days. The material contained in today’s release complies with that policy.
All video and audio being released has been redacted to ensure the confidentiality and privacy of those involved. The faces and/or identifying material has been blurred. Audio redactions are signified by muted audio with no accompanying sound.
