On Monday, April 16th, 2018, at approximately 10:03 p.m., the Sacramento police department responded to the area of 65th Street and Broadway on a report of a collision with an injured pedestrian down on the roadway and a vehicle that fled the area after the collision. When officers arrived, they located an unresponsive male adult, in the roadway, who was unresponsive. The Sacramento Fire Department arrived and pronounced him deceased. Officers conducted an initial canvas of the area for witnesses and evidence. Due to the severity of the collision, the Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) responded to the scene to take over the traffic investigation. Investigators checked the area for additional evidence and witnesses. The identity of the pedestrian will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin notifications have been completed. Preliminary information suggests that the pedestrian was on the west side of 65th Street, at or near the intersection of Broadway. The vehicle was traveling southbound on 65th Street, struck the pedestrian and fled the scene. The Sacramento Police Department is requesting the community’s assistance with investigating this collision.
