On Tuesday, April 24th, 2018, at approximately 11:44 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the area of Grasslands Drive and West El Camino on a report of a collision with an injured pedestrian down on the roadway and a vehicle that fled the area after the collision.

When officers arrived, they located an unresponsive female adult, in the roadway, who was unresponsive. The Sacramento Fire Department arrived and pronounced her deceased.

Officers conducted an initial canvas of the area for witnesses and evidence.  Due to the severity of the collision, the Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) responded to the scene to take over the traffic investigation. Investigators checked the area for additional evidence and witnesses. 

The identity of the pedestrian will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin notifications have been completed.

Preliminary information suggests that the pedestrian was jogging/running on Grasslands Drive and crossing the street from the northwest corner to the northeast corner in or near the marked crosswalk. A vehicle traveling southbound on Grasslands approached the intersection at West El Camino and struck the pedestrian. After the collision, the driver fled westbound on West El Camino.

The suspect vehicle is described as:

-White, Ford, Pick-up, Extended Cab, Camper Shell.

The driver is described as:

-Male.
