On Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at approximately 12:11 a.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department were called to the 3800 block of Dry Creek Road, regarding a ShotSpotter activation. Additional callers advised of a shooting at Dry Creek Road/Harris Avenue with a subject shot.
Officers arrived on scene and located two adult victims with gunshot wounds. One victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A second victim was located unresponsive. The Sacramento Fire Department arrived and despite life-saving measures, the victim was declared deceased on scene.
Officers conducted an initial canvas of the area for witnesses and evidence. Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators have been called to the scene to take over the investigation. At this time, a motive for the shooting has not been determined.
Detectives are asking for the community’s help in providing any information they may have regarding the incident.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified.
