On Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at approximately 10:25 p.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 2300 block of Morell Street regarding a vehicle collision into a building and gunshots heard in the area.
Officers arrived and discovered that a vehicle collided into a residence. Responding officers also located two male adults in need of medical attention. Officers immediately began life-saving efforts, including administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to one male, until relieved by the Sacramento Fire Department. Ultimately, this male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by fire personnel. The other male adult was transported to a local area hospital and is in serious condition.
Due to the severity of this incident, Homicide Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators and Motor Collision Investigators have been called to the scene to take over the investigation. Currently, detectives are investigating the extent and cause of these injuries and if the reported gunshots are part of this incident.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified.
