Tonight, August 7, 2018, the 35th Annual National Night Out will be taking place in communities and neighborhoods throughout Sacramento and the nation.
Over sixty neighborhoods throughout the City of Sacramento are planning events such as block parties, barbeques, ice cream socials, and other neighborhood social activities. This event gives neighbors an opportunity to get together to support local crime prevention efforts. This nationwide effort promotes neighborhood involvement to help reduce crime, strengthen partnerships between police and youth, community members and local organizations. By participating in these events, we believe it will generate support and increase participation in local neighborhood watch programs. It will also inform criminals that our neighborhoods are connected and are fighting back.
Sacramento Police officers, along with other city representatives, will be out visiting these neighborhood celebrations as a show of support for their efforts on Tuesday.
We hope you will participate in one of the many events taking place in your neighborhood!
