On Saturday, November 17, 2018, at approximately 4:39 p.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department were dispatched to the 5000 block of Bassett Way regarding a shooting.
Officers arrived and located a male adult with a gunshot wound. Officers took life-saving measures until relieved by the Sacramento Fire Department personnel. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for life-threatening injuries.
Officers conducted an initial canvas of the area for witnesses and evidence. Due to the severity of the injuries, Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene to take over the investigation.
Earlier today, detectives learned that the victim succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of his has been notified.
This press release is a summary of the facts known at this time, as this homicide is actively being investigated. Detectives believe this is an isolated incident and are asking for the community’s help in providing any information regarding this shooting.
