On Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11:41a.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department were called to the area of Rio Linda Boulevard and Carmelita Avenue regarding several calls of sounds of shots fired in the area.

Officers arrived on scene and located an unresponsive male with a gunshot wound. Officers immediately performed CPR on the victim. The Sacramento Fire Department arrived and declared the victim deceased.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to take over the investigation. At this time, a motive for the shooting has not been determined. This incident does appear to be isolated and there is no current threat to the surrounding community.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once the next of kin has been notified.

Detectives are asking for the community’s help in providing any information that they may have regarding this incident.
