On Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at approximately 5:14 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the area of Stockton Boulevard and Mack Road regarding a major vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
When officers arrived, they learned that fire personnel responded and transported the pedestrian to a local area hospital for medical treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts, the female, adult pedestrian died from her injuries.
During the preliminary investigation, officers determined that a van was traveling southbound on Stockton Boulevard and collided with the pedestrian, just south of Mack Road. The pedestrian was walking across Stockton Boulevard, in an eastbound direction. The male adult driver of the van remained on-scene. At this time, there is no indication that DUI is a factor in this collision.
Due to the fatality, the Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) responded to the scene to take over the traffic investigation. Detectives checked the area for additional evidence and witnesses. The investigation remains active.
