On Thursday, March 21, 2019, at approximately 11:04 p.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to a bank in the 1300 block of Florin Road regarding a carjacking. Responding officers determined that during the carjacking, the elderly female victim jumped into the back seat of her vehicle and attempted to fight off the suspect. One suspect fled on foot while the other drove erratically out of the area in an attempt to eject the elderly female from the vehicle. As the suspect drove, he struck the victim with his fist and with a blunt object numerous times and threatened to shoot her, though no gun was seen. While fleeing the scene in the vehicle, the suspect also collided into multiple parked cars and a residential garage in the area. Ultimately, this suspect also fled on foot. The victim sustained significant injuries and was transported to a local area hospital.
On Sunday, March 24, 2019, at approximately 10:02 p.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to a business parking lot in the 1300 block of Florin Road regarding a carjacking. Responding officers determined that the victim was approached by four suspects. The suspects assaulted the victim, stole personal items, including his car keys, and fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
On Sunday, March 24, 2019, approximately 11:18 p.m., while conducting follow-up investigation, patrol officers located the carjacking vehicle in the area of Amherst Street and Meadowview Road. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Corporate Loop and Park City Court. The driver fled from the vehicle and was later located and detained. The passenger also attempted to flee but was unsuccessful and safely detained.
After extensive follow-up and diligent work by numerous officers and detectives, the two suspects were arrested for both carjacking incidents. Both suspects are male juveniles, and their identities will not be released.
