On Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at approximately 7:13 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the area of 26th Street and Q Street regarding a major vehicle collision.
When officers arrived, they learned that a motorcycle and vehicle were involved in the collision. Officers located the male adult motorcycle driver on the roadway who had sustained major injuries. Fire personnel responded and declared this person deceased. There were no other injuries as a result of this vehicle collision.
Responding officers conducted an initial canvas of the area for witnesses and evidence. During the preliminary investigation, officers determined the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Q Street and the vehicle was traveling northbound on 26th Street when the collision occurred. At this point, it is unknown if impaired driving was a factor.
Due to the fatality, the Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) responded to the scene to take over the traffic investigation. Detectives checked the area for additional evidence and witnesses. The investigation remains active.
The identity of the male adult driver will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified.
