The Sacramento Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies will honor our fallen heroes during several Law Enforcement Memorial events taking place in the City of Sacramento between Thursday, May 2, 2019 and Monday, May 6, 2019.
On Thursday, May 2, 2019, the local Sacramento Police Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation will hold its 17th Annual Remembrance Ceremony at the memorial site, located at 500 Arden Way at 12:00 p.m. The local Sacramento Police Sheriffs Memorial honors those who made the made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving the Sacramento community.
On Sunday, May 5, 2019, the state California Peace Officer Memorial Foundation will hold its 43rd Candlelight Vigil at the memorial site, located at 10th Street and Capitol Mall from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The state Candlelight Vigil honors those Peace Officers across California who made the ultimate sacrifice during 2018.
On Monday, May 6, 2019, the state California Peace Officer Memorial Foundation will hold its 43rd Annual Memorial Ceremony at the memorial site, located at 10th Street and Capitol Mall from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The state Annual Memorial Ceremony honors those Peace Officers across California who have made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving our communities.
All three of these memorial events are open to the public.
Road Closures and Noise Advisement
On Thursday, May 2, 2019, at approximately 12:30 p.m., there will be a twenty-one-gun salute to honor the fallen officers at the Sacramento Police Sheriffs Memorial located at 500 Arden Way.
On Sunday, May 5, 2019, 10th Street between L Street and N Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
On Monday, May 6, 2019, Capitol Mall will be closed between the Tower Bridge and 9th Street as early as 8:30 a.m. to approximately 10:30 a.m. Additionally, 10th Street will be closed from L Street to Q Street from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
