On Monday June 24, 2019, at approximately 11:39 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the area of University Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard regarding a major vehicle collision involving two motor vehicles.
When officers arrived, Sacramento Metro Fire Personnel were on scene performing life saving measures on a female adult passenger from an involved vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, Fire personnel pronounced the female deceased at the scene.
During the preliminary investigation, officers determined one of the involved vehicles was travelling eastbound on Fair Oaks Boulevard and collided with the second vehicle in the intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard and University Avenue. All involved parties remained on scene and were contacted by SPD Officers. At this time, speed and/or impairment do not appear to be factors.
Due to the fatality, the Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) responded to the scene to take over the traffic investigation. Detectives checked the area for additional evidence and witnesses. The investigation remains active.
