The Sacramento Police Department South Problem Oriented Policing (POP) team has recently received a wide variety of community complaints regarding criminal activity at a residence in the 2400 block of 23rd Street. These complaints have come from many concerned community members who have indicated that there is a high volume of narcotic activity associated with this residence. The South POP team took the initiative to investigate these complaints and conducted an extensive follow-up investigation. This led to a judge authorizing a search warrant for officers to conduct a search of the residence.
On Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at approximately 7:05 a.m., the South POP team in conjunction with SWAT officers served the search warrant at the residence and determined there was a narcotic lab inside. This led to the residence being deemed uninhabitable, locked/secured and posted as a Dangerous Building. Additionally, the South POP team made multiple arrests and cited out numerous suspects:
· One male adult arrested for manufacturing narcotics
· One female adult arrested for manufacturing narcotics
· One male adult cited and released for heroin
· One male adult cited and released for possession of methamphetamines
· Three male adults cited and released for possession of narcotic paraphernalia
· Three female adults cited and released for possession of narcotic paraphernalia
· One male adult cited and released for possessing illegal fireworks
This type of proactive police work is critical to ensure we reduce crime and illegal activity. With the help of many concerned community members, the South POP Team was able to make a significant difference in this neighborhood. Our police department is committed to working collaboratively with our community to ensure we keep our City safe.
