On Friday, August 2, 2019, at approximately 9:04 p.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department were called to the 2600 block of 5th Street regarding a shooting.
Officers arrived and located a 37-year-old male with several gunshot wounds. Officers administered first aid until relieved by fire department personnel. Despite life saving measures, the male did not survive his injuries.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators have been called to the scene to take over the investigation. At this time, a motive for the shooting has not been determined. Based on preliminary information related to this investigation, detectives believe this is an isolated incident.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified.
