On Monday August 26, 2019, at approximately 3:40 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the area of Howe Avenue and Swarthmore Drive regarding a two-vehicle collision with major injuries. SFD and SPD arrived on scene and located both drivers with moderate to major injuries. SFD transported both drivers to local area hospitals. Unfortunately, one of the drivers did not survive their injuries.
The Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) responded to process the traffic collision investigation. Detectives checked the area for additional evidence and witnesses. The investigation remains active.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified.
