On Monday September 2, 2019, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department and Sacramento Fire Department responded to the area of Del Paso Boulevard and Juliesse Avenue regarding a single-vehicle collision with major injuries. The Sacramento Fire Department arrived on scene and declared a female occupant in the vehicle deceased. Fire personnel transported the other occupant to a local area hospital with major injuries.
During the preliminary investigation, officers determined that a white four door sedan was traveling northbound on Del Paso Boulevard when it collided with a retaining wall at Juliesse Avenue. It is unknown at this time if speed, impairment, or distracted driving contributed to this collision.
Due to the fatality, the Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) responded to take over the investigation. Detectives are checking the area for additional evidence and witnesses. The investigation remains active.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once the next of kin has been notified.
