Fatal Collision Investigation – Orchard Lane and West El Camino Avenue

This press release is a summary of the facts known at this time, as this incident is being actively investigated. The information contained in this press release is subject to change. Additional details will be released as they become available.

On Sunday, September 29, 2019, at approximately 8:03 p.m., patrol officers responded to the area of Orchard Lane and West El Camino Avenue regarding a motorcycle down in the road.  When officers arrived on scene they located a motorcycle, and rider, who was down in the roadway.  Sacramento Fire Department personnel had already arrived on scene and were attempting life saving measures.  Despite their efforts, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

The Sacramento Police Department Major Collision Investigations Unit (MCIU) was called to the scene to investigate the collision.  A preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Orchard Lane from West El Camino Avenue.  While traveling on Orchard Lane the motorcyclist struck the center divider, and was ejected from the motorcycle.  Driver impairment and speed are under investigation.  It is unknown at this time if they played a part in this collision.

The rider is a male adult.  The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity after next of kin is notified.
