On November 8th, 2019, at approximately 10:54 p.m., patrol officers responded to the intersection of Truxel Road and San Juan Road regarding a collision that had occurred. Callers also advised that shots had been fired at the scene. Officers arrived at the intersection and found two vehicles that were involved in a collision. In one vehicle, officers located an occupant with multiple gunshot wounds. That victim was declared deceased on scene. Officers located another victim, at the intersection, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound. That victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently in critical, but stable condition.
Homicide and crime scene investigators were called to the scene to take over the investigation.
Based on preliminary information it appears that the two victims of the shooting were in the same vehicle. That vehicle collided with another vehicle near San Juan Road and Truxel Road. Occupants of the other vehicle involved in the collision sustained no injury, and are uninvolved in the shooting.
The circumstances into how this incident unfolded are still under investigation. Homicide detectives are actively working to identify a motive and suspect in this case. Investigators will conduct a thorough neighborhood canvass to locate any witnesses and surveillance footage of the incident.
Both victims are males. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased victim once next of kin have been notified.
