On December 14, 2019 at approximately 6:10 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 6000 block of Riza Avenue regarding a report of shots fired. When officers arrived on scene they located one male adult victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. Officers immediately attempted life-saving-measures. Fire department personnel arrived on scene to take over first aid. Despite first responder efforts the victim succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced deceased on scene.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have been called to the scene to take over the investigation. This investigation is in the early stages and is active. Based on preliminary information, investigators do not believe that there is an active threat to the community.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office when next of kin have been notified.
