The Sacramento Police Department Major Collision Investigations Unit (MCIU) is investigating a fatal hit and run collision, involving a pedestrian, that occurred on January 3,2020. Investigators are working with limited information and are seeking assistance from the community.
At approximately 6:32 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the area of Rio Linda Boulevard and Acacia Avenue regarding a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
When officers arrived on scene they learned that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and that vehicle had fled the scene. Officers located a male adult victim in the roadway with major injuries and conducted life saving measures prior to the arrival of Sacramento Fire Department Personnel. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Sacramento Fire Medics for his injuries. The victim later succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect vehicle was described as an older dark colored sedan last seen traveling south on Rio Linda Boulevard.
The identity of the male adult victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified.
