On Saturday, April 11, 2020, at approximately 4:38 p.m., an officer involved shooting occurred in the 7400 block of West Stockton Boulevard.

In order to provide information quickly to our community, the Sacramento Police Department is releasing four significant videos. The material consists of two body-worn-camera (BWC) and two in-car-camera (ICC) videos.  These videos capture the two primary officers involved in the incident and shows their initial response. The video ends when the suspect is transported by Sacramento Fire Department personnel to a local hospital.  The remainder of video and audio related to this incident will be released in the near future.

All videos being released from this incident have been redacted to ensure the confidentiality and privacy of those involved.  The faces have been blurred and audio redactions are signified by muted audio.

By viewing Officer 1’s ICC video you can see the suspect exit his vehicle and turn towards the officers. The suspect quickly draws a black handgun from the area of his waistband.  He then points the firearm at the officers and begins firing multiple rounds.  Both officers return fire and the suspect then runs in a northwest direction through the parking lot.

The suspect then lays in a prone position and again fires upon officers. The officers are eventually able to tactically approach the suspect and safely take him into custody.

The suspect in this incident is still listed in stable condition and receiving medical treatment.  His identity is being withheld until medical treatment is complete and he can be booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail. 

This investigation is still active.  Additional details will be released as the investigation continues.
