On May 9, 2020 at approximately 9:15 p.m. Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 1400 block of Meadowview Road regarding a reported shooting. Officers arrived and found two adult males who had sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds. They immediately began to render aid to both injured men. Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived and transported one of the victims to a local hospital. He was later pronounced deceased by medical personnel at the hospital. The other man succumbed to his injuries on scene and was pronounced deceased by fire personnel.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have responded to take over the investigation. Detectives will be conducting a thorough neighborhood canvass to locate any possible witnesses and evidence.
This investigation is in the very early stages and information is limited. Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives do not believe that there is an active threat to the community.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victims after next of kin have been notified.
