Sacramento Police Department homicide detectives have arrested a man in connection with a double homicide that occurred on Saturday night. During the course of the investigation, the detectives identified the suspect as 29-year-old Shawn Shaver, who has been booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on homicide charges. Detectives do not believe that there are any outstanding suspects.
On May 9, 2020 at approximately 9:15 p.m. Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 1400 block of Meadowview Road regarding a reported shooting. Officers arrived and found two adult males who had sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds. They immediately began to render aid to both injured men. Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived and transported one of the victims to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The other man was pronounced deceased by fire personnel at the scene.
Homicide detectives worked closely with crime scene investigators to identify a suspect in this case. The circumstances that led up to this shooting are still under investigation.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victims after next of kin have been notified.
