This evening the City of Sacramento has declared a local public emergency and imposed a citywide curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. until further notice. The Sacramento Police Department will be enforcing this curfew. Individuals violating the curfew will be subject to arrest. For complete details on the ordinance please view these FAQ's on the City of Sacramento website.
The California National Guard will be providing assistance to the Sacramento Police Department to protect critical infrastructure and vulnerable commerce during protests. These resources will allow additional Sacramento Police Department officers to respond to reports of violence and destruction of property. The Sacramento Police Department remains the agency responsible for enforcing laws in the City.
We encourage our community to report crimes and to not intervene. The Sacramento Police Department remains committed to allowing our community to exercise their first amendment rights in a safe manner.
