On June 6, 2020 at approximately 7:19 p.m. Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 2900 block of Gardendale Road for a report of shots fired. Dispatch began to receive multiple calls regarding some type of altercation that was occurring at a house party, and that somebody had possibly been shot.
When officers arrived on scene, they located three victims who had sustained gunshot wounds. One victim had a life-threatening injury and officers immediately began life-saving measures. The other two victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. All three victims were transported to local hospitals by Sacramento Fire Department personnel. Officers were advised that two more victims had self-transported themselves to a local hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The victim, an adult male, who had sustained life-threatening-injuries succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. The other four victims were also male. One of those four victims was identified as a 16-year-old juvenile.
Sacramento Police Department homicide detectives, along with crime scene investigators, have taken over the investigation. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation and information is limited. Based on the preliminary investigation, investigators believe that this is an isolated incident. Detectives are seeking assistance from anybody with information regarding this incident.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
