On June 9, 2020 at approximately 3:59 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 4000 block of Broadway. When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult female who had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound. She was transported by Sacramento Fire Department personnel to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.
Investigators believe that the victim in this shooting was not the intended target. At this point in the investigation information is extremely limited, but detectives believe the motive behind this shooting is gang-related.
In the last few weeks, the Sacramento Police Department has investigated approximately 25 shootings that have occurred within the Sacramento city limits. Three of these shootings have resulted in homicides. Detectives believe that several of these shootings were gang-related.
The Sacramento Police Department is seeking any information that the community may have regarding this shooting, or any other possibly related incidents. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000. Anonymous tips can also be submitted using the free “P3 Tips” smartphone app.
