On September 25, 2020 at approximately 1:00 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 2600 block of Stonecreek Drive regarding a shooting that had occurred. Officers responded and located one adult male, and one adult female, who had been shot. Officers immediately began to render medical aid to both victims. Fire department personnel arrived shortly after and transported both victims to a local hospital. The female victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital by medical staff. The male victim is in stable condition and expected to survive.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have now taken over the investigation. Detectives are conducting a canvass of the area for witnesses and evidence. Detectives believe the suspect fled prior to officer’s arrival and have no further information to provide at this point. The motive for this shooting remains under investigation.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
