On October 26, 2020 at approximately 3:40 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of Mack Road and Valley Hi Drive regarding a pedestrian down in the roadway. When officers arrived, they located an adult male who had sustained serious life-threatening injuries from the collision. Fire personnel arrived a short time later and declared the pedestrian deceased. Officers also discovered that the involved vehicle had fled the scene.
The Sacramento Police Department Major Collisions Investigations Unit (MCIU) has taken over the investigation. Detectives will be working with crime scene investigators to process the scene for evidence. At this point in the investigation details are limited and detectives do not have a suspect description to provide. Investigators will be conducting a thorough canvass for witnesses and surveillance footage.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
