On January 1, 2021, at approximately 6:32 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 7400 block of 17th Avenue for a reported shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they located three victims who had sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds. Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived and declared one male adult victim deceased at the scene. Two female adult victims were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have responded to take over the investigation. This investigation is in the very early stages and details are limited. Detectives will be conducting a canvass of the area to locate witnesses or evidence related to this incident. There is no suspect description to release at this point.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victims after next of kin have been notified.
