On January 8, 2021, at approximately 12:33 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 1600 block of Cormorant Way for a report of a shooting that had occurred in the area. When officers arrived, they located an adult male who had sustained at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers began life-saving measures and Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived shortly after to take over medical care. Fire personnel transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have responded to take over the investigation. This investigation is in the early stages and detectives will be canvassing the area for evidence and witnesses. The motive for this shooting is unclear and there is no suspect information to release at this time.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victims after next of kin have been notified.
