Last Thursday, January 28, 2021 Sacramento Police Department detectives arrested a man who was wanted in connection with a series of robberies that had occurred during the week. Detectives identified the suspect as 36-year-old Ricardo Carranza, who was responsible for at least five robberies that occurred at local businesses in the Pocket area of Sacramento. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from the robberies.
The investigation began last week when detectives received information on a series of robberies involving a suspect pictured below. Extra officers were assigned to patrol businesses in the area. One of these extra patrols observed a suspect matching the description running from a local business, and when they attempted to contact the suspect, he fled in a vehicle and led officers on a short pursuit. The suspect eventually yielded and was safely taken into custody. He was identified as Carranza. Carranza has since been booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on robbery charges related to the series.
The investigations into these robberies are still ongoing, and detectives are still seeking information regarding any incidents that may be related.
