On March 28, 2021 at approximately 11:36 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 3500 Block of 5th Ave regarding a call of shots fired that were heard in the area. When officers arrived on scene, they located one adult male victim who had sustained at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. Sacramento Fire Department personnel responded and declared the victim deceased at the scene. A second adult male victim was also located with a non-life-threatening gunshot injury and was transported to a local hospital by fire personnel.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have responded to take over the investigation. The circumstances that led up to this shooting are still under investigation and there is no suspect information to release at this point. Detectives will be conducting a canvass of the area for witnesses and evidence.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victims after next of kin have been notified.
