On Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at approximately 2:08 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 600 block of Plaza Ave regarding a shooting that just occurred. When officers arrived on scene, they located one adult male victim who sustained at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital by paramedics in critical condition. The victim eventually succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased by medical staff.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have responded to take over the investigation. The circumstances that led up to this shooting are still under investigation and there is no suspect information to release at this point. Detectives will be conducting a canvass of the area for witnesses and evidence.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
