On Thursday, April 29, 2021 at approximately 7:44 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 3600 block of 5th Avenue regarding a report of a subject who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located one adult male victim who sustained at least one gunshot wound. Officers attempted lifesaving measures however the victim was ultimately declared deceased on scene by responding personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have responded to take over the investigation. Detectives will be conducting a canvass of the area for witnesses and evidence. The circumstances that led up to this shooting are under investigation and there is no suspect information to provide at this time.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
