On May 31, 2021 at approximately 5:11 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of Bannon St and Bercut Dr regarding a medical aid call in which a subject was reported to be injured. Personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department first arrived on scene and located a deceased adult male. The victim sustained critical injuries from what appeared to be some type of physical assault. Responding officers were able to detain a suspect who was in the area.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have responded to take over the investigation. The investigation is in its early stages, however detectives do not believe that there are any suspects outstanding related to this incident. Detectives will be conducting a canvass of the area for witnesses and evidence as part of the investigation to determine what occurred.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
