On May 31, 2021 at approximately 8:54 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 4200 block of Norwood Avenue for a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision. When officers arrived they located the pedestrian, an adult male, down in the roadway with major injuries. Personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department responded and attempted to provide medical aid. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The involved vehicle fled the area prior to the arrival of officers.
The Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collisions Investigations Unit (MCIU) and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. Currently, there is no suspect information to provide. Detectives will be conducting a thorough canvass of the area for evidence and witnesses.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin have been notified.
