During the evening hours of Saturday, June 19, 2021, the Sacramento Police Department Traffic Enforcement Team will be in the downtown entertainment areas, and Old Sacramento, conducting traffic enforcement in response to numerous community concerns regarding traffic violations. Some of these concerns include noise violations, speeding and reckless driving from both vehicles and motorcycles. Additionally, officers will be focusing on violations and general safety related to pedestrians, bicycle riders, and scooter operators.
Officers will be conducting traffic enforcement as well as providing education regarding applicable State and City traffic laws. Furthermore, officers will assess traffic impacts and will provide traffic control to mitigate traffic concerns.
“We have already begun to see patrons returning to our entertainment districts and enjoying everything that Downtown Sacramento has to offer,” said Central Command Captain Wendy Brown. “The Sacramento Police Department remains committed to the safety of our community and supporting our business partners. The department will ensure that our downtown area remains safe for both pedestrians and vehicles.”
Funding for this enforcement is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
