On June 22, 2021 at approximately 4:50 a.m. Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of 11th Avenue and 59th Street for a reported shooting that had occurred near the intersection. When officers arrived, they located one adult male in his late 20’s to early 30’s who had sustained at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers immediately began rendering aid and Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived shortly after. Despite their efforts the victim was pronounced deceased on scene.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have responded to take over this investigation. The circumstances that led up to this shooting are still under investigation and detectives do not have a suspect description to provide at this point. Investigators will be conducting a neighborhood canvass of the area for witnesses and surveillance footage.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
